  • Staffed a table at the CA State Department of Social Services Emergency Preparedness Fair.  Distributed emergency preparedness information and program brochures.
  • Held a SMRC Membership Training Meeting at Shriners Hospital for Children taught by Sacramento County Public Health.  The Points of Dispensing (PODs)/Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) training and exercise, which included a simulated POD with flu vaccine for SMRC members, prepared our members to work upcoming Adult and Family and School flu clinics.
  • Staffed first aid tents at the CA Capitol Air Show on Sept. 6th and 7th.
  • Staffed the Sacramento County OES - SMRC table at the CA State Fair for First Responder's Day.  Distributed emergency preparedness and program information.
  • Provided moulage to simulate injuries for a California Highway Patrol EMS exercise.  20 explorers and CHP officers were moulaged with gun shot wounds, lacerations, and head injuries.
  • Provided moulage, including 4 victims with the following injuries: Glass in the top of hand, 4" laceration on forearm, head wound, and lost finger and broken leg (femur) for a Mock Disaster (a broken gas line in the kitchen that results in an explosion) at California Northstate University’s Heath Care Summer Camp in Elk Grove.  In addition to moulage, our members served as medical evaluators for the 8 students that treated the victims.
  • Presented Emergency Preparedness information at the 16th Annual Family Safety and Health Expo at Safetyville USA.   
  • Supported the Statewide Explorer Competition at the CA Highway Patrol Academy by providing moulage and first aid assistance.
  • Distributed preparedness information at the Galt Safety Fair
  • Provided and staffed a first aid station at Rancho Cordova’s Kids Day in the Park attended by over 6,000 visitors
  • Supported the Placer County exercise at Colfax High School by providing moulage to simulate gunshot wounds for a training exercise that included a bomb, hazmat, and active shooter scenario.
  • Visited our generous partner Shriners Hospital for Children Northern CA. Toured their state of the art facility and learned about some of the good work they do to help children in the specialty areas of Orthopedics, Burn Care, Spinal Cord Injury, and Cleft Lip and Palate, regardless of a family's ability to pay.
  • Provided moulage and professional medical evaluators for a simulated disaster exercise at Health Professions High School.
