Mitigation
The purpose of hazard mitigation is to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and their property from hazards. Sacramento County developed the Local Hazard Mitigation plan (LHMP) update to make the County and its residents less vulnerable to future hazard events.
The Value of Mitigation in Our Community
- Mitigation establishes safer communities by reducing losses of life and property.
- Mitigation enables individuals and communities to recover more quickly from disastrous events.
- Mitigation lessens the financial toll of disasters on individuals, the Treasury, state, local and tribal communities.
